Introduction

Viewability is an optional metric in AdGlare in addition to impressions. It tracks time an ad remains visible on the screen after being served in a publisher's auto_storiesZone. An impression is considered 'viewable' if it meets the criteria for time on screen.

According to the Media Rating Council (MRC), an ad is deemed viewable if at least 50% of its pixels are displayed in the user's visible browser area for a minimum of 1 second.

Viewability measurement is available on all auto_storiesAdGlare plans without any extra charge.

Definitions

Let's define the meaning of viewability events:
  • Measurable impression — an impression served where viewability can be measured.
  • Viewable impression — an impression that was considered viewable (50% pixels, 1 second).
  • Viewability — the rate between the number of viewable impressions out of all measurable impressions.
  • Impressions — ads that were served on the page, regardless if the user saw it or not.

Viewability reports

Advantages

Viewability is increasingly recognized as a standard metric for assessing ad performance, offering several key benefits:
  • Enhances Transparency and Trust: Viewability metrics foster greater transparency with advertisers, building trust by providing clear and reliable data on ad visibility.
  • Improves Performance Insights: By tracking viewability, you gain better insights into how effectively your ads are performing and whether they are actually being seen by users.
  • Identifies Optimization Opportunities: If ads are not being recorded as viewable, it highlights potential areas for optimizing site content and layout to improve ad visibility.
